Description

Fiery splashes of orange punctuate this night drilling scene. These solitary oil derricks are rich in symbolism. Most everyone notices their unique and eerie construction, a visible obstacle to an otherwise vacant landscape. Even at night, though, they continue to remove the final hours of ancient sunlight from the ground. It is an unseen destruction on the scale that only a modern society could achieve.
