The process of cold wax is to build many individual layers of wax, paint and texture – but mostly during this stage of layering I tend to see a painting taking shape. It seems natural to stop the layering and take up a brush, the palette knife and medium. just like it was a typical oil painting. The texture with ins and outs of transparency and definition brings the painting together for me adding depth. Trying to find the words to explain this change in my process is hard for me. I just know that it is working and for now, I cannot wait to get into the studio to work. The painting “Purple Rain” I was showing during my recent Studio ArTour, thinking I should leave it out to think about what to add to it next. Someone bought it and I now say – it is finished.
